Book Review: The Magical World of Moss Gardening By Annie Martin

I had never heard of planting a moss garden, until one day I was browsing a catalog, and a book on the subject caught my attention.  What a wonderful idea I had thought, planting moss ... instead of grass to help cut-down on the amount of time, energy and money it takes to maintain a lawn ... and so, since then I have been a lover of The Moss Garden.  This is a lovely book, with beautiful images and easy to follow moss wisdom for the beginner and those with a little or a lot of experience.

Highly Recommended!!!

Review: Anodea Judith The Illuminated Chakras

Anodea Judith The Illuminated Chakras

Anodea Judith's The Illuminated Chakras DVD is a must-have for anyone interested in the Chakra System.

“The body is the vehicle. Consciousness is the driver. Yoga is the key. The Chakras are the map.” ~Dr. Anodea Judith

Anodea Judith has had a great influence on me. Her voice pops into my head every once in a while, advising me of spiritual matters, reminding me that we are are driving this body of ours. An expert on the chakra system, Anodea is the Kundalini guru of our time. The Illuminated Chakras DVD is the perfect teaching tool for the beginner student to the master student and everyone else in-between. It is also the perfect DVD for the "curious" crowd out that that is interested, perhaps not really knowing why. Let's get to know a little more about Anodea Judith, the Queen of the sacred centers.

Who is Anodea Judith?

The international renown, dynamic speaker and workshop leader, Anodea Judith, Ph.D., is considered a prophet for our time. She is best known for her book Wheels of Life: A User’s Guide to the Chakra System, a manual that is considered the definitive work on the subject of the Chakra System. Anodea Judith holds a doctorate in Health and Human Services, with a specialty in Mind-Body healing, and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology. A lifetime study of history, psychology, mythology, and religion, combined with two decades as a therapist are evident in her work. Anodea teaches and speaks all over the world. Her contribution to the universal, global heart is priceless, especially in our world whose center is aching to heal and connect to something deeply spiritual and whole.

The Rainbow Bridge Awaits You

Passionate about awakening our collective potential, Anodea Judith, has made it easy to learn the chakra system with this powerful and awakening multi-sensory experience of the kundalini. Her voice-over narrative is poetic and enriching, intensely enlightening and eye-opening. Judith brilliantly and masterfully weaves together her in-depth knowledge and years of wisdom into a DVD that is a multi-layered, sensual experience, unlike anything I have ever witnessed before. Hypnotic and both visceral and ethereal, The Illuminated Chakras DVD takes you into deep and secret, esoteric places of our existence. Emotions and cellular memories will stir, waking up places buried within and connecting you to the path of the rainbow bridge that leads to heaven.

Illuminate The Chakras, Illuminate Your Life

I cannot give enough praise for the professional and gorgeous, expressive graphics and work that went into creating this DVD. Animated art by Alex Wayne, the images are stunning and original. This 28-minute meditation is a journey into the chakra system, one chakra at a time. Meet Kundalini-Shakti, the mystical serpent of awakening who drives the vital force that opens each chakra, in search of her lover Shiva. The journey takes you deep into each chakra, hypnotizing you and connecting you to each spinning wheel of energy, each interior star of the infinite.

An original soundtrack by Robin Silver creates a completely one-of-a-kind ride through the microcosm and macrocosm that we are all a part of. The soundtrack is captivating and effective in capturing the vibrational quality of each chakra. The powerful force of the kundalini is too be respected. Having a greater understanding of this divine potential makes it easier to know how to harness it to create a better life for yourself, and be of greater value to the collective universal energies that we all share.

RV Travel with Children

RV travel and camping is a great way to pass along your love of the outdoors and the joys of travel to your children or grandchildren. RV travel can be a very rewarding experience for the entire family. Whether you have escaped the rat race and are a full-time RV nomad or just taking a RV camping vacation, RV travel and camping strengthens family relationships. The confinement of the RV gives the opportunity to spend quality time together as a family and really get to know one another. RV travel is a terrific way for parents or grandparents to develop strong bonds with the children. The freedom of a long road trip can be a very exciting and fun way of practicing decision-making as a team. So many sights to see and so many places to experience, RV travels are full of enlightenment and growth for all ages. Long road trips can be, at times, difficult for children but with a little planning you will feel rest-assured and enthusiastic about hitting the road with the young ones. Here are some tips to help you bring out the best in your RV experience.
  • Involve the children in the planning procedure.
Before you even hit the road get the children involved. Involving the children is great way to help them develop important planning skills, problem solving skills and organization skills. Children almost always love when you ask them for their opinion and take great pride in giving their thoughts and ideas. This helps build a very strong unshakable foundation of confidence within them. The planning procedure shapes enthusiasm, excitement, and anticipation for RV travel and campingGive the children choices and really listen to what they want and have to say. Work as a team. Take a vote when conflicting desires arise. Post a map and allow the children to draw a route of the entire trip. This is a great way to teach children map reading and direction skills. Supply each child with their own personal map and compass. Children love to learn and this will keep them involved and active the entire trip.
  • Expect good behavior
Make and post a list of rules. Be sure to enforce it. It never hurts to have a little bit of leverage. Reward children with the activities, toys, games, snacks, etc. that they love and punish them by taking something away. You can also use campground activities as rewards for good behavior. Campgrounds provide a fun environment for children. Encourage team work by rewarding the entire family with an activity such as horseback riding, canoeing etc. Rewarding everyone for doing such a great job is very encouraging. Team work builds strong communication skills and teaches everyone to value and appreciate each other. Remember to follow the rules yourself. Children learn more by example than anything. Teach children to be responsible for themselves, respectful to themselves and to others.
  • Understand child passenger safety.
Be aware of child passenger laws and follow them to a tee. There are differences in child passenger laws from state to state. Child passenger restraint requirements vary based on age, weight and height. No matter what state you are in be sure that children stay seated and belted while the RV is in motion. Stop the RV often and take frequent breaks to give everyone a chance to stretch and go to the restroom.
  • Teach children to pay it forward.
Encourage random acts of kindness toward each other. Acts of kindness are small, simple, selfless acts done for others without expecting anything in return. Teach the children to look around and see if anything needs done at camp, in the RV or if anyone needs anything. Help mold acts of kindness and get them into the habit of doing one nice thing for someone everyday. Take turns talking about how doing nice things makes everyone feel about themselves.
  • Get as crafty as a fox.
Busy minds need activities to participate in. Keep children entertained and focused by giving them special crafts to work on. There are lots of crafts that you can do while traveling. Many children will look forward to crafting. Some fun crafting include making jewelry, knitting, origami, aluminum foil art, paper dolls, sticker collages, sock puppets, etc. Choose crafts that are not very messy or require any scissors or sharp, dangerous objects. Prepare craft kits before-hand if scissors are necessary or pack child safety scissors to avoid any preventable accidents or injuries.
  • Play games.
Keep children entertained, busy and happy for hours with fun games that they can play on the road. Bring a deck of cards and a book of card games. Road trips are a perfect opportunity to learn a new card game along with playing some all time favorites. Magnetic board games, especially the car version games are nice because they are small, compact and easy to play even on bumpy roads. Bingo is lots of fun to play in the RV. Plenty of places online offer free printable Bingo games. There are lots of road games that have no requirements other than participation and everyone can play together, even the driver. Some fun road games include I spy, the license plate game, the alphabet game, license plate poker, twenty questions, scavenger hunt and a is for armadillo. For extra fun, purchase small toys, crafts, special snacks, etc as prizes.
  • Bring audio books
Audio books are a great way to keep children, and adults, entertained. While it is tempting to keep children quiet and behaved with DVDs, storytelling is a healthy way to encourage creativity, to teach listening skills, help build vocabulary and improve overall language skills. Audio books are also lots of fun.
Closing Notes: Create memories. Enjoy life. Have fun and be happy!

Mommy & Me Yoga

Mommy & Me Yoga is a fun way to multi-task while taking care of yourself and bonding with your new baby.  This style of yoga is designed to be safe after childbirth and focuses on the muscles used in labor and delivery, as well as a routine that integrates participation with baby.  This is a wonderful way to rebuild strength in the postpartum body, learn techniques of relaxation (crucial to a new mom), provide a time of self-love and get in shape.  All this while creating a life-long bond of yoga with baby.  It is also wonderful because mother does not have to be separated from the child,  which may cause a great deal of anxiety.

Mommy & Me Yoga helps to develop a rich communication with your baby through touch, eye contact, stretching, massage and movement. Yoga is great for the healthy development of baby, as well as being very healthy for mommy and it is something that can easily be incorporated in the daily routine ... no matter how busy you are.

As your baby grows, so will the routine and often the child will grow to love yoga just as much as the mother does.  Yoga is great way to bring a gentle and easy appreciation for exercise and meditation into a child's life.  I have watched videos that truly inspired me online with mom and infant, as well as toddler and daddy too - all practicing the asanas together as a family.

Whether you join a class or purchase a DVD, Mommy & Me Yoga is fun, practical and designed to support the postpartum body’s recovery in a safe, supportive environment.  Nourishing to the spirit, a new mom is sure to thrive because this style yoga gives a women the space to concentrate on her needs, as well as the needs of the baby, during this time of transition.

Reveal Your Chic With Egg

Reveal Your Chic With Egg

Eggs are not only a necessity in many culinary recipes, but a main ingredient in some of the best organic, home made beauty potions.

The incredible edible is even more incredible than I was previously aware of. When I heard that eggs were good for hair and skin I must admit, I had doubts. Were the benefits really worth putting raw egg all over my head and face? Is raw egg even safe? As a did a little digging I realized that not only were the woman of centuries past keen on using raw eggs as a beauty aid, but this is a very popular modern technique among cosmeticians and there clientele. It turns out that eggs have a pretty big reputation and are highly valued in assisting with beautiful hair and skin. There are many ways of using eggs in your beauty regimen. Best of all eggs are very inexpensive. I looked into the safety of raw egg and according to The Incredible Edible Egg the risk of an egg being contaminated with Salmonella bacteria is very low, about 1 in 20,000 eggs. Proper handling of eggs can reduce, and even entirely eliminate this risk. For more information on the proper handling of eggs and egg safety please visit the Egg Safety Center. So whip up your favorite omelet (eating eggs also contributes to health and beauty), turn on some meditation music and prepare yourself some spa quality beauty treatments in the comfort of your own home.

Eggs for skin care

  • An egg white mask can be an effective way of healing acne and correcting oily skin. This will also tighten skin and shrink pores. If desired add lemon juice to the egg whites for extra strength healing mixture but be very careful. Lemon juice can cause skin to lighten because of its bleaching action, especially if exposed to sunlight. You could also add honey or avocado to your face mask.
  • For dry skin, use egg yolk mixed with 1/2 avocado and a teaspoon of coconut oil. Apply to clean skin and leave on for about twenty minutes before rinsing off.
  • Mix together on egg yolk, 1/2 avocado and 1/2 cup of milk. Use as a skin cleanser. Apply with cotton ball and rinse with water.

Eggs for hair care

  • For dry hair blend coconut oil with egg yolk. Apply to hair liberally and cover with a shower cap. Shampoo hair as usual, after about one hour.
  • To add shine and deep condition, whip an egg or two until frothy. You will want enough to cover entire length of hair. Apply egg to hair and allow to dry on hair before shampooing.
  • Make a shampoo from one raw egg. Simply whip up egg until it foams. Mix with a quarter cup of warm water. Use as a shampoo. A raw egg shampoo will keep your hair clean, strengthened and conditioned.
  • Condition hair with a mixture of plain yogurt and egg white. Leave mixture on hair for well over an hour, before shampooing.
  • Bring dull hair to life by combining olive oil, lemon juice, egg yolk and beer. Shampoo hair and follow by working egg mixture into hair. Leave on for five - ten minutes before rinsing out.
  • Encourage hair growth by mixing egg yolk with flax seed oil. Using a circular motion, message mixture onto scalp and wet hair. Leave mixture on hair for at least ten minutes before shampooing. Repeat weekly.

Closing Notes

When separating the egg yolk from the egg white use chilled eggs. This makes it a lot easier to separate. Also note that the fresher the eggs the easier it will be to separate the yolk from the whites. The yolk will be tighter and the whites firmer. If you are still having trouble or just want to make things a little easier on yourself there are several different kinds of egg separator tools on the market these days.
Have fun and be beautiful!

Review: Nielsen-Massey Vanillas

Nielsen-Massey Vanillas are the finest in the world.  See what sets them apart and why vanilla extract is so important.

I am addicted to the intoxicating, warm and sensual scent of Vanilla. It captivates me every time I smell it, drawing me closer in. The welcoming, alluring aroma of Vanilla holds so many memories of childhood and romance. I cannot imagine a world without it. Vanilla is literally everywhere. It is a popular and important ingredient in many culinary dishes and widely used in perfumes and cosmetics. Classic, ageless, mysterious, sweet, rich yet delicate and euphoric, vanilla is the most popular spice in the world.

*True Vanilla Vs Artificial*

Vanilla is one of the most expensive crops to grow on the planet today mainly because it is so labor-intensive. The high price of real vanilla, along side the huge demand has created a market for imitation varieties and lower quality products. While pure vanilla extract is made from the vanilla bean, artificial extract comes via lignin, a byproduct of the paper industry. Not quite the real thing, not even close. Real vanilla is derived from Vanilla orchid seed pods, aka the vanilla bean. The flavor of real vanilla is made up of over 250 organic components, compared to only one flavor component in artificial vanilla. Once you have had real vanilla, it is not likely that you will accept any substitutes. Once you try Nielsen-Massey Vanillas you will know what true quality vanilla is all about. Known as the World's Finest Vanillas, I have yet to find a vanilla extract that compares to Nielsen-Massey.

*Nielsen-Massey Vanillas*

Nielsen-Massey Vanillas is a third-generation family company that has been in business almost 100 years, producing some of the finest and best, premium vanilla products that money can buy. I love family owned businesses and Nielsen-Massey Vanillas is no exception. You can really see the pride the family has in there products. Quality is assured from the very beginning of the process, as each vanilla bean is carefully inspected to meet the highest standards possible. Every batch is tested, ensuring the name Nielsen-Massey can always be trusted. Crafting vanilla for over a century, the vanilla extract is made through a proprietary cold extraction process instead of heat extraction to help preserve the more than 300 distinctive flavor compounds present in the beans. All of the products are gluten-free, allergen-free and kosher. They also have a line of organic vanillas.

Pros

  * Family run company that has been in business for nearly 100 years
  * High quality
  * Real vanilla extract
  * Use a cold extraction process
  * Huge selction
  * Gluten-free
  * Allergen-free
  * Kosher
  * Line of organic vanillas also
  * Easy to find, available at many stores

Cons

  * A little more expensive

*Vanilla - Nectar Of The Gods*

Vanilla has a rich and long history, complete with emperors, seduction, passion and piracy. According to Totonac mythology, the vanilla orchid was born when Princess Xanat, forbidden by her father from marrying a mortal, fled to the forest to be with her lover. The lovers were captured and beheaded and their blood spilled unto the earth, causing a vine to grow. That vine is today known as the vanilla orchid vine.

Vanilla is the world's most loved flavor and scent, valued for centuries. It has been around since ancient times. Vanilla is currently the second most expensive spice available today (saffron being the first), because the curing process takes between 6-9 months, and involves several labor-intensive heating and drying episodes. The vanilla orchid blooms only one day a year, and unless the vanilla is coming from Mexico or Central America, it is most likely that the cultivation depends on careful hand-pollination. So one day a year, she blooms and she must be pollinated by hand or she will bear no fruit. Vanilla is a high-maintence kinda gal, but she's worth it. Life would not, could not be the same without her. The word Vanilla has actually come to mean plain or ordinary because it is so relied upon. It is though our culture has become quite dependent on this enchanting orchid. The essence of vanilla is quite humble and my bet is that Princess Xanat was quite humble herself.

*Aphrodisiac?*

Vanilla has so many uses beyond ice cream, cookies and birthday cake. We all know the culinary pleasures of sweet vanilla, but did you know that this sacred, royal orchid is said to have aphrodisiac powers. One reason could be because vanilla increases levels of catecholamines, including adrenaline, a neurotransmitter and fight-or-flight hormone that elevates when we're excited. Another reason it is considered an Aphrodisiac is by the Law of Similars, the vanilla bean is clearly useful for male virility. Vanilla essential oil is among the fragrances commonly considered to hold aphrodisiac powers.

*Other Uses Of Vanilla*

Here are some other great uses for vanilla extract.

  • Bug Repellant - Almost everyone loves the scent of vanilla, except the bugs. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to 1 cup of water and apply liberally to the skin.
  • Add a few drops of vanilla extract in a can of paint to help eliminate the scent.
  • Spray onto your pillow at night to help you sleep.
  • Use as a perfume right out of the bottle.
  • Make your own nontoxic deodorizing spray by adding a few drops of pure vanilla extract to a few cups of water in a spray bottle.
  • Help relieve minor burns by applying vanilla extract.
  • The scent of vanilla acts as an appetite suppressor.
  • Improve your mood - The sedative properties of Vanilla make it helpful in treating anxiety and depression.
  • When feeling blue or anxious take a nice deep breath of vanilla extract.
  • When fishing, use on hands so that the fish do not detect you. Caution: You may catch more than fish!
  • Wash the refrigerator with vanilla extract. It eliminates odors like magic.

Frusano Review: The Gold At The End Of The Rainbow

Hi everyone,

I have found the gold at the end of the rainbow with this week's review ...

Did you know that there is actually a company that makes food low in fructose or fructose-free, specifically for those with Fructose Malabsorption?

I was so excited when I found Frusano and I tested out lots and lots of their products. I was literally in heaven. Frusano makes food products specially designed for those who have a sensitivity to fructose. All of their products are not only extremely low of fructose or fructose-free, but low in sucrose and sorbitol as well.  Many are also lactose-free. There product labels are very detailed, giving measurements that are important to us FMers, such as amount of fructose, sorbitol, etc. Most people do not even know what Fructose Malabsorption is, let alone an entire company devoted to bringing the culinary pleasures of life to those who have the dietary restrictions of FM. This is the only company that specializes low fructose and fructose free foods.

They are located in Germany and the only downside is shipping cost if you are out of the area, although they are planning on finding distribution in America soon. Currently there are no Frusano dealers in the States or in Canada. If you live in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg you are in luck. Regardless, Frusano is golden. They have lots of products too. They even have vitamins for both adults and children. This is so important because I have been looking for a vitamin for so long and here is a vitamin, specifically made for those with fructose sensitivites. They carry a full-range of enzymes, including Fructosin (a nutritional supplement that can assist the body with the contained xylose isomerase enzyme (XI) to exploit the accumulated surplus of fructose from food).

From the Frusano website ...

"Welcome to Frusano!

Are you looking for food low on fructose? If you suffer from hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI) or from fructose malabsorption (also often called fructose intolerance) or if you cannot eat fructose for other reasons, this is the site you are looking for. Frusano develops and markets food products specially designed for those who cannot eat fructose.

The products offered here are also wholesome in general: They don’t contain refined sugar but instead fructose-free glucose syrup containing healthy carbo-hydrates parts of which are fairly slowly absorbed and so ensure a balanced blood sugar level: Healthy sweetness results in lasting well-being. The rice syrup which we use in a number of our products is a special glucose syrup made from rice by natural methods with the properties described above. Frusano does not use artificial sweeteners nor alditols (e.g. sorbitol) nor, this goes without saying, high-fructose corn syrups (hfcs).

Our products are extremely low of fructose, sucrose and sorbitol. In addition most foodstuffs are lactose-free. We give a detailed description of the content of fructose, sucrose, sorbitol and lactose in every products description.

About Frusano

After having been diagnosed as suffering from fructose intolerance I tried, as you probably did, too, to find fructose-free food, and I discovered much to my surprise that there is hardly any on offer. Manufacturers as well as retailers remain silent or use the term “fructose-free” much too carelessly. I came across products like e.g. honey which obviously contain fructose but were nevertheless offered as “fructose-free”.

As there are no dealers specializing in fructose-free foodstuffs I have taken the initiative in setting up “Frusano”.

The first step was an analysis of many products which according to the specifications of the producers or their list of ingredients should have been low on fructose: Virtually none of them could be called low or even approximately low on fructose. Especially with “glucose syrup” in specifications caution is called for: This expression may well conceal the fact that a great deal of glucose has been converted into fructose in order to achieve greater sweetness. A great many of the producers are not even aware of this fact. So we have devoted a lot of money and energy in order NOT to offer such products.

The logical second step was, of course, to develop our own products. A considerable amount of research work had to be devoted to choosing the right kind of sweetener because pure glucose - as you probably know from experience - has some unpleasant properties such as a “metallic” taste, a high glycemic index and a tendency to crystallize. The result of our efforts is to be seen here in the shop: All of our products are sweetened with fructose-free glucose syrup which apart from tasting better is also much more wholesome than pure glucose.

Sufficiently precise analyses were also of major importance: Even renowned laboratories threw in the towel since especially the high glucose content of Frusano products makes it very difficult to determine the sucrose content. After many attempts we have now found a specialized laboratory which is able to determine precisely the fructose content as well as the sucrose content. This is of great importance: You can absolutely trust our information concerning the content of fructose, sorbitol and sucrose.

Frusano products are made by suppliers in Austria, Germany and the Philippines (Fair Trade)."

My Experience

I received a huge box of Frusano foods, enzymes and vitamins. I felt like a little girl on Christmas morning. I havn't been so happy since I realized that I had Fructose Malabsorption and MY SYMPTOMS ARE CONTROLLABLE. As I stated earlier Frusano has so many products. Here are the products that that I recieved the first time ordering from Frusano. Remember this is just a handful of Frusano products.

Rhubarb spread
Red currant spread
Filita Organic Dark Glucose-chocolate
Organic peppermints
Bukross Chokeberry
Spelt sesame bars
Rice dwarfs (cookies)
Traditional spicy christmas cookie
Corn flakes unsweetened
Dextrose Lolly
Organic Cocoa dessert
Instant vanilla sauce mix
FiliMultin Kapseln
Digestive enzyme tablets
Biolabor lactase, 10.000 FCC
Prokid, Children's Multi-vitamin
Ketchup without sugar

I am so happy with each and every product that I tried. They are delicious. It was easy to get carried away and overeat. The same rules of eating still apply. You do not want to eat too large of a portion. The great thing about Frusano products if that there is such detailed information on the packaging. You will have to visit there website though because the products themselves are in German, unless of course you speak the language. My husband had a lovely time as well testing these products. He does not have FM and can eat almost anything that he wants ... and he does sometimes (LOL). We are pretty accustomed to eating healthy because it makes us feel so good. Frusano products taste healthy and deliscious. My husband and I both love them. As long as I did not overdue it, and I did a few times, I was completely symptom free. Being able to enjoy lollipops, cookies, ketchup, cornflakes and jelly was a gift unlike any other. Thank you Frusano - You are an Angel & a Godsend to many of us FMers!

I am taking the multi vitamin everyday. I can honestly tell you that I feel better than ever. They have a children's vitamin too.

Please visit Frusano for more information. The Frusano website has lots of useful information about each product and also education on sugar, food intolerances and Fructose Malabsorption. You are sure to learn a lot just by visiting. Even the product descriptions are educational, especially the vitamins and supplements.

Love and Light everyone! Please let me know your thoughts about this company. Have you tried these products, what do you think?

Review: Divine Rebels: Saints, Mystics, Holy Change Agents - and You, By Caroline Myss, Andrew Harvey

This is an important time in our world, a time of great change, unlike any other ...

This timely and much-needed 9 disc set fuels the passion of the sacred flame of truth that lives as a potential seed in the hearts of us all.

Facing these challenging times of transformation can be a frightening experience with the threat of a lack of soulful, spiritual direction and truth.  How many people in the world do you think are wandering around in life, wondering and wondering, wandering and wandering while feeling lost? ... lost?  If you have ever felt lost in life, unsure, confused, baffled and even dumb ... If you have ever felt this way, and I know that everyone has or will at one time or another, this CD set will have something for you, offering great hope and inspiring words that are powerfully graceful, while wildly courageous.

Divine Rebellion lives within each and every one of us, as a spiritual revolution takes place within during our evolution and experience as humans ...

I needed this audio ... honest, soulful and poetic.  It has opened my eyes to the truth that I locked up in my heart, guiding me toward the strength in my foundation that I have been needing for so long.  Nourishing to the soul, even if one sentence in this entire ten hours of audio resonates with you, the purity of the wisdom will stay with you your entire life.

The truth has caused rebellion through out the ages and this audio is the answer to the many prayers of uncertainty as to what to do in the world today, when lies and corruption are a part of so much in our world.

Myss and Harvey guide us, teaching to listen for the same divine voice that called out and spoke to history's greatest spiritual rebels - Francis of Assisi, Teresa of Avila, Mother Mary, St John and many others.

Caroline Myss is a Saint, a divine rebel herself, whose voice and words are like the nectar of this experience called life.  Her no nonsense, tough, honest approach is enlightening, enriching, empowering and incredible.  I love this women ... the sacred has most certainly called to her.  I feel somewhat converted, as though I have been initiated into the richness of my soul, as though I have gone through the woods of my heart, guided by the mystical and saintly Caroline Myss and Andrew Harvey.  A wave of love, truth and balanced clarity has washed my wombs and purified my soul.

Music Review: The Sound Healing Collection

Did you know that our cells and molecules are tiny radio transmitters and receivers? Sound can be a powerful healer ...

The therapeutic power of sound, more specifically of music can be miraculous. Get Six sound engineers together who know this and we could quite literally move mountains. The power of music is something that musicians and ancient mystics have always known. With this Aquarian-age and universal frequency shift, the scientific community is now "waking up". It is an extremely exciting time in our world because it is changing. Many believe that a new "awareness" will allow this transformation to be one of positive change, planetary alignment, atonement and brotherly love. A new day when our beautiful planet is in harmony - an image that fills my heart and connects my consciousness to the core of our world that is clearly seeking balance.

As our earth seeks resonance, let us all do the same. It is our divine right to re-align in harmony, allowing health, wellness and joyfulness to take place.

The healing power of sound has never been easier to experience. Sounds True has put the best of the best together with this collection. Before exploring these six sound engineers a part of this set, let's look a little deeper into Sound & Vibration Therapy ...

Universal Law: Light, Sound and Vibration

Sound therapy can be simply be described as a noninvasive, energy-based, alternative health approach to wellness.Vibration is a primary force in the Universe and the basis of sound therapy. Vibrational healing is nothing new and revolutionary, as it has been practiced in many forms all over the world for thousands of years.

To begin, everything has frequency and vibration - everything. Everything in the universe is energy. Nothing is really solid, although it may appear so. Rather everything in our world is made up of microscopic particles vibrating at such a fast rate that they appear solid. This is true for living and non-living items alike. Everything is alive with tiny particles of life that are in a constant moving state, creating vibration. This is the Law of Vibration, a law of nature that states that nothing rests, everything moves; everything vibrates.

If there is a vibration, you can be sure that it is creating its own unique sound. The very core of the being is a vibration. Even our thoughts have a vibration. When we think we are sending out a sound. It is possible to increase the speed at which the molecules in our bodies vibrate, through our thoughts of love, joy and gratitude.

Our emotions actually effect the shape of our DNA. We can also think our self into an illness. When we think, which is a sound, it resonates the frequency around us to our "thinking" sound. The mind is a tool of the soul. Do not get the two confused. Another aspect of dis-ease (meaning disharmony in the body or illness) occurs when the mind and the soul are in conflict with one another.

Sound has the power to heal. Sound can transform physical matter. Sound can raise vibrations and therefore bring the body back into a healthy harmony. Interesting, isn't it? We are all powerful co-creators of our reality. Healing is possible, but you first must welcome it. In order to heal you must allow yourself to do so. So give yourself permission right now to do so. Repeat and affirm the following statement three times, "I love and respect myself. I welcome healing to take place".

The Collection

The Sound Healing Collection brings together leading musicians in the field of sound and frequency healing: Dr. Jeffrey Thompson, David, Ison, Steven Halpren, Ph.D., Dr. Joseph Nagler, Sylvia Nakkach, and Life in Balance. Listening to healing sounds, vibrations and music can have dramatic results, and all you have to do is listen. An intention of healing with the energy of love helps the process along. This six CD set has a style that will resonate with everyone, six hours of inspiring, relaxing and healing music. Each CD offering its own special blend of healing magic.

Music For Brainwave Massage

The first CD is entitled "Music For Brainwave Massage", by Dr. Jeffrey D. Thompson, D.C., B.F.A.. This album is actually intended to to alter brainwave function and states of consciousness. Embedded sound frequency patterns, altering right and left signals and primordial sounds of nature work in harmony with a talented musician and composer. He is recognized as a worldwide expert in the field of brainwave entrainment frequencies incorporated into musical sound tracks. Mr Thompson has established a method for using modulated sound-pulses for Brainwave Entrainment intent with changing states of consciousness for healing the mind, body and spirit.

This is one of my favorite discs in the collection. I never "tire" of listening to it and can easily play it for weeks at a time, without intermission. It puts me in a good moon ... I mean mood ... and keeps me there, feeling warm, focused, calm, cool and collected. One of my favorite CD's of this collection, I never take it out of the ten disc player.

Relax

The second CD, "Relax", by David Ison is one of the more emotional moving pieces, for myself anyhow. It tends to trigger highs and lows, even exposing great sadness and sensitivities at times.
David Ison is internationally recognized as a pioneer in extending the healing effectiveness of sound, meditation and self realization. He is a musician, composer, mediation teacher, published author, the creator of the Musical Body, The Harmonizer and the Ison Method, along with dozens of other transformational musical programs.

After a serious car accident Ison was injured so bad that he broke his back and was unable to walk. Intent on healing himself, David refused pain killers and surgery, instead using an energy-based meditation technique to slow down his breathing to create a deep state of relaxation and then to direct his body’s vital force to the injured areas of his body. He walked out of the hospital, inspired to create transformational musical tools that would create the same kind of deep benefits he experienced while recovering.

Music For Healing MInd, Body & Spirit

Lucky number three is entitled, "Music For Healing MInd, Body & Spirit", by Steven Halpern, Ph.D. This CD takes me to distant galaxies, visions of dancing on keyboard synthesizers while waves of light are emitted  from frequencies that sound almost too good for the human ear to hear. If the speakers are up high enough I can feel some of these notes in my teeth ...

Steven Halpern, Ph.D is an award-winning composer, speaker, recording artist, author and producer. He has been named by Keyboard magazine as "one of the 10 most influential keyboard artists of the past 50 years." Steven discovered secrets of combining ancient sound healing traditions with quantum biology and energy medicine to produce recordings that present the proper vibrations, supporting deep levels of healing by employing the mind and body's wisdom and genetically programmed ability to heal itself.

Music for Rejuvenation

Another emotional stirring CD in this collection, "Music for Rejuvenation", by Dr. Joseph Nagler is the fourth album of this "collection of the brightest six." This is actually one of my least favorite's of the set, and although it begins with a bit of an emotion kick, I find myself turning it off by the time track three rolls around. I certainly do not plan on listening to this album as much as the others, if at all. It is too "brassy" for my taste. It also has moments of uncomfortable sadness and emotional, whining piano and violin that pours from the speakers, making it difficult for me to listen to.

Joseph Nagler, D.A., C.M.T. received his doctorate in music therapy and is currently a Professor of Music at Queensborough Community College. He is an author, music therapist, musician and researcher. He is currently researching the use of music to promote language development with autistic children.

Inside

The fourth disc, "Inside", by Silvia Nakkach, has been a resident in my ten disc player for months now. I cannot get enough of it. It feels healing listening to the beautiful melodies, vocals and acoustic textures. This is by far my favorite of the entire collection. Shamanic and multi-cultural influences are woven together with the sacred voice of Silvia in the spotlight. This deeply healing, world music score is graceful, spiritual and heart touching. A penetrating album that encapsulates the essence of a true healer, a natural healer. Centered and relaxed, I immediately feel at peace with myself, my world and God. Silvia has a voice that is angelic, healing, elegant, soul-soothing and heart opening. Her heart pours with emotion, yet she sings with control, strength, poise and inner balance. Truly a work of art ...

Silvia Nakkach,M.A.,M.M.T. Is an award-winning composer, a former music psychotherapist, educator, singer, author, multi-instrumentalist and voice-culturist. She has been a pioneer in the field of sound and transformation of consciousness and is a recognized authority on the healing power of voice, music and sound. She is the founding director of The Vox Mundi School, an international project devoted to teaching and preserving indigenous musical traditions and combining service, spiritual practice and music.

Crystal Bowl Meditation

Sixth and final disc of this Ambient, healing collection is "Crystal Bowl Meditation" by Life In Balance. This is another favorite in the the collection. The Life In Balance pair are pioneers in ambient and trance-inducing electro-acoustic music. This touring duo, husband and wife team - Amin and Steve Sciulli, create a hypnotic, textured sound that is easy to relax and meditate to. The music has a magical sound, blending golden sparkling, pixie dust as it touches our dimension, alchemy, crystals and bells. The vibrational force causes my speakers to rattle at times. The work of Life In Balance is impressive, as they use ten crystal bowls in this album to create the sacred healing sounds. I enjoyed watching them on you tube, as I have never witnessed crystal bowls being played with such beauty. The music touches me different, after seeing them in action.

Life In Balance merging sacred instruments and modern instruments. Ami and Steve Sciulli are sacred sound healing musicians who use quartz crystal bowls and electronically enhanced world flutes to create an environment for healing, expansion, and relaxation. A national touring duo, Steve Sciulli and Ami Sciulli have played with Deepak Chopra, Krishna Das, Rusted Root and the Drepung Gomang Tibetan Monks.

Closing

If I had to pack light for a weekend trip ... or even a year, this collection would be traveling with me. I know I cannot go wrong with it, everyone loves it - everyone. Out of the entire six hours of music, there are only a few songs that I did not care for. It helps trigger the response of love and relaxation - a winning combo for an alchemical miracle to take place.

I love this CD set and my clients do too! It's great music for bodywork, meditation and relaxation. I highly recommend it. Remarkable experiences have been reported with the use of sound. You won't regret adding this set to your collection. For more information, please visit Sounds True.

How to Get the Best Campsite Possible for Your Family

Selecting the perfect campsite is very important to your camping experience. If you set up camp in the wrong location your entire trip can turn out to be more about survival than relaxation and connecting with the elements. Planning is critical for the experienced camper and the novice alike when selecting both a campground and a campsite.

    Step One:

Do your research. There are several online sources that allow you to do so. Establish what campground you wish to stay at. Call campgrounds and ask questions. Compare prices, amenities and location. Different families have different desires and needs. Do you want your site to be close to bathroom facilities, water facilities, pool, etc? Is it close to a water source that attracts a lot of bugs? How is the wi-fi connection? Is there even a wi-fi connection? Are there a lot of trees? Are bears a threat or any other kind of animal? What recreation is available? Are the campground neighbors quiet? Is it possible to change location if you are not happy or your needs are not met? How big is the site? It is best to come up with a list of questions, needs and preferences. Take notes and allow yourself time to decide which campground is the best for you.

    Step Two:

The early bird gets the best campsite. Reserve your site early. As early as possible. Campgrounds can fill up pretty quick, specially in the summer months. Advanced reservations that are made as early as possible will really give you an advantage to getting the best site possible. If you are camping during winter months, a slow season or the campground is on a first-come-first-serve basis take a stroll through the campground, selecting the lot that speaks to you loudest. Better yet, make it a game for the family. Little ones love to get involved and help out.

    Step Three:

Arrive early. Even if you have a reserved space you want to make sure that you get to your site as early as possible. If your site turns out to not be exactly what you expect many campgrounds allow you to find a campsite that is better suited for your needs as long as they are still vacant. If you get to your site late you might not have this option. Also it is a good idea to set up camp and get a nice feel for your surroundings. Always ask the campground host if there is a detailed map of the campground available.

    Closing Notes & Tips:

You will get better at choosing the best camping site with time. Practice and experience will give you that special seasoning that it just right for you and your family.
Respect wildlife and treat your hosts with honor and gratitude. Never modify your campsite by removing any  kind of vegetation, rocks or plants.
If you have a large group of people you might want to consider a group campsite, if they are available. You could always make advanced reservations for more that one campsite right next to each other or even the entire area.

Camping With A Baby - What You Need to Bring, What You Need to Know

Family camping can be a wonderful experience, building very strong connections with loved ones and the natural world. Camping helps mold values in children and adults alike. The memories last a lifetime and are often told time and time again at family gatherings. Camping helps the family reconnect to the natural rhythm of themselves, each other and to life. Camping with a baby does not need to be difficult. Lots of people take their baby camping and you can too. It just takes some extra special, loving organization and planning to ensure all the babies needs will be fully met. This will help ensure that everyone will have a great time and really enjoy the experience. Introducing your baby to camping early helps them establish a connection to the natural world and themselves at a core level from an early age. It allows the family to enjoy years of outdoor fun and togetherness. So let's get started.

Preparation: As with all checklists you might want to add some items to this list or scratch some off. Use this list as a guide to creating your own camping checklist.

    Camping With Baby Checklist:
    • Baby carrier (This is an important item, especially if you plan on hiking. Be sure to test it out before you take it camping.)
    • Baby swing
    • Story books
    • Bibs (If possible, bring a bib for each meal.)
    • Diapers
    • Properly fitted life jacket (for babies 20 pounds and up)
    • Cloth diapers (For nursing, etc.)
    • Pacifier with clip and ribbon or string
    • Extra pacifier
    • Diaper bag

    • Mosquito netting to put around playpen
    • Portable bassinet or pack-and-play
    • Bedding for baby
    • Clothing for all temperatures
    • Clothing that can be layered
    • Extra clothes
    • Good sunscreen that is safe for babies.
    • Long pants and long-sleeved shirt (to protect baby from the sun and bug bites)
    • Extra socks

    • Portable playpen (for keeping baby clean, occupied, and out of trouble. A playpen also make a nice place for baby to sleep.)
    • Baby blankets (extras for cold nights)
    • Baby thermometer
    • First aid kit for baby
    • Tummy tub or bath for baby (You can also use a plastic storage container for bathing baby.)
    Camping With Baby Tips:
    • Consult your pediatrician before planning the camping trip, especially for an infant with special needs.
    • Test the waters with a short one-night or weekend-only trip with baby. You might even want to try camping out in the backyard first.
    • Choose a site close to the bathrooms and washing areas. This will not only be very convenient for changing diapers, cleaning up, using sinks etc., but it also will give you and baby a way of stepping away from camp for a moment.
    • Be extra vigilant about what baby is putting into their mouth. Try a pacifier to keep baby from looking for things to eat. Keep it clipped on babies chest with a short string or ribbon to prevent it from getting  too dirty, too often.
    • When getting together babies wardrobe remember that layering is key to keeping baby both warm and cool. Long sleeves and pants protect baby from the sun and bugs.
    • Always pack more than you think you will need of everything; clothing, socks, diapers, formula, food, etc. You will especially need lots and lots of baby wipes. Babies can get very dirty out there and so can you and the rest of the family. Baby wipes will keep the entire family clean.
    • A portable playpen with mosquito netting will keep your baby out of trouble, clean and protected from mosquitoes.
    • If you bottle-feed, ready-made formula is much easier than powder. No mixing or refrigeration is required. Use bottles with disposable plastic liners. Store sterilized nipples, pacifiers and bottles in Ziploc bags until use. Try to bring enough clean, sterilized bottles, nipples and pacifiers for the entire trip if possible. You can always sterilize them when you get home. If necessary you can sterilize baby bottles, nipples and pacifiers in boiling water at camp.
    • Follow baby's normal sleeping schedule, if possible. Be sure to follow safe sleeping instructions for baby to avoid SIDS risk. Consider investing in a pack-and-play.
    • Bugs can be vicious while camping. Dress baby in ways so that there is as little exposed skin as possible. Most mosquito repellents are not suitable for small infants. Ask the pharmacist for baby safe insect repellent. Use mosquito netting over top of playpen and stroller.
    • Be sure to bring a picnic blanket and set it beneath a shady tree or an umbrella. You and baby can lounge around, relax and eat lunch together. Double-layered, waterproof backing picnic blankets make a great choice.
    • Keep baby out of direct sunlight as much as possible. Long pants and longs sleeves help keep the sun off of baby. Cotton is both cool and comfortable for your little one. Use sunscreen that is safe for infants. Sunscreens may cause an allergic reaction in very young babies. Keep baby in the shade or create your own shade with an umbrella. Baby hats are very effective for keeping sun exposure to a minimum.
    • Be prepared for all kinds of weather. Bring extra baby blankets, extra warm clothing, hats and infant rain gear.
    • Choose a campground that is close to a hospital so you will have access to help in case anything goes wrong.
    • Never let the baby out of your site. You need to be constantly watching them. Keep your eyes and ears open for immediate danger or problems or potential hazards that baby can get into.
    • Camping with other loved ones, family or friends who can care for baby and give you a break will help tremendously. Another pair of hands will help you keep babies needs satisfied and ensure that your needs are not being neglected.
Closing Notes: Camping is one of the best ways to connect and bond with your baby and your family. Although it takes a little more preparation, camping with your little one can be a very fun and safe experience. Being outside has a positive effect on the quality of one's life. Studies show that babies develop much faster and learn more social skills while being out in life, as opposed to inside the house and in front of the television. Outdoor air is also statistically safer than indoor air. This is good for baby, for you and the rest of the family. So get out there and breathe in the fresh air while giving your little bundle of love a very rich and rewarding experience that only mother nature has to offer. Wishing you a fun, safe, stress-free and relaxing camping trip with your little one.

A Ray Of Sunshine On Nordic Naturals Arctic Cod Liver Oil™

Recently I was asked if I had any suggestions for Vitamin D deficiency. If you are unsure if you have a Vitamin D deficiency you can always get a blood test done. My favorite way to add a healthy dose of Vitamin D into my everyday is with Nordic Naturals Arctic Cod Liver Oil™. It is the only Cod Liver Oil on the market made exclusively from Arctic Cod. Cod liver oil is a nutritional supplement derived from liver of cod fish. Ingestion of cod liver oil became popular in 19th Century England as a source of vitamin D for sun-deprived children. Cod liver oil has high levels of both vitamin A and vitamin D and, as with most fish oils, it is high in Omega 3 fatty acids. When purchasing a fish oil quality is just as important as the oil itself because fish are often polluted with mercury and other toxins. Nordic Naturals Arctic Cod Liver Oil™ has been purified and tested for toxins. I trust Nordic Naturals fish oil and so do medical professionals, health researchers, and consumers alike. All of Nordic Naturals fish oils consistently receive the highest industry recognition and always taste great.

If you do give Nordic Naturals a spin, start with a small dose. Fish oil sometimes negatively impacts your digestive system by causing gas or diarrhea, particularly if you take too much at once or consume it between, rather than with, meals. I did not experience any of these problems when I took a single dose of Nordic Naturals Arctic cod fish oil daily.

If you are looking for an extra dose of Vitamin D try the Nordic Naturals Arctic-D Cod Liver Oil™. In addition to all the benefits of Nordic Naturals Arctic Cod Liver Oil™, each serving of this fruit-flavored liquid also provides 1000 I.U. of vitamin D3, which exceeds the recommended daily value of vitamin D for adults and children over four years of age.

Nordic Naturals also has Vitamin D supplements available. I did not test this supplement out myself. If anyone else has please leave a comment below.

    Laboratory Finding in Fructose Malabsorption

    Laboratory Finding in Fructose Malabsorption

The main danger of fructose malabsorption is the malnutrition associated with it. Important nutrients like calcium and iron are often deficient. Fructose malabsorption therefore is not only associated with gastro-intestinal distress but also the inability to absorb all kinds of nutrition which can lead to serious diseases like anaemia and osteoporosis. Since over consumption of fructose can cause diarrhea, micronutrients can be flushed out from small intestine before even having a chance to be absorbed. This can then lead to various nutrient deficiences, especially over time. Plasma levels of zinc, iron, calcium, vitamin C and E and triptophan may also be lowered. Amylase, lipase and triglicerides may be elevated. Testing reveals widely reported decreased levels of folic acid, zinc and tryptophan in the blood.

Fructose malabsorption is associated with lower serum zinc concentrations. Zinc, an essential mineral required by the body for maintaining a sense of smell, keeping a healthy immune system, building proteins, triggering enzymes, and creating DNA. Zinc also helps the cells in your body communicate by functioning as a neurotransmitter. Gastrointestinal malabsorption can also lead to zinc deficiency symptoms. Chronic diarrhea is one of the most common symptoms of fructose malabsorption. Patients with chronic diarrhea are known to exhibit signs of zinc deficiency. Inadequate intake of zinc in the daily diet is the main reason why zinc deficiencies happen and other than malabsorption can also be promoted by an increase in the losses of zinc from the body, such as when copper exposure is high, and when your body requirement for zinc increases (such as when lactating or pregnant). Zinc deficiency can also be due to acrodermatis enteropathica, chronic renal disease, sickle cell disease, diabetes, malignancy, chronic liver disease and other chronic illnesses. The symptoms of zinc deficiency are quite diverse. Zinc deficiency plays a role in cellular turnover of the gastrointestinal mucosa and also has been linked to poor appetite and mental disturbances. Zinc deficiency during pregnancy can negatively affect both the mother and fetus. A deficiency in zinc can lead to stunted growth, hair loss, mild anemia, hyperactivity, diarrhea, impotence, and depressed immunity. Conversely, consuming too much zinc can disrupt absorption of copper and iron, as well as create large amounts of toxic free radicals. The current RDA for Zinc is 15mg.

    Symptoms of zinc deficiency

Not all symptoms appear in all individuals with a deficiency.

    Hair loss
    Behavioral and sleep disturbances
    Dandruff
    Hang nails
    Eye and skin lesions
    Change in appetite
    Depressed immunity
    Delay in wound healing
    Mental disturbences
Skin lesions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne
    Growth retardation
    Mild anemia
    Increased allergic sensitivity
    Inflammation of your nail cuticles
Pre-eclampsia (toxaemia) in pregnancy and post-natal depression
    Skin dryness and rashes
    Reduced fertility
    Hyperactivity
    Diarrhea
Pre-menstrual syndrome, disturbance in your menstrual cycle
    Inflammatory bowel disease
    Poor appetite
    Loss of sex drive
    Loss of appetite
White spots on fingernails, transverse lines and poor nail growth
Loss of senses of taste or smell

    Foods high in Zinc.

    Avocado
    Bananas
    Beef
    Blackberries
    Brewers yeast
    Chicken (dark meat)
    Eggs
    Fish
    Kiwi fruit
    Lamb
    Liver
    Olives
    Oysters
    Pork
    Pumpkin seeds
    Shellfish
    Spinach
    Strawberries
    Sweet potatoes
    Tomatoes
    Turkey (dark meat)
    Veal Liver

Fructose malabsorption is also associated with folic acid deficiency. Fructose malabsorption was found to be correlated with low levels of folic acid in blood plasma in some cases. This could be partly due to the fact that fructose malabsorption leads to a profound change in bacterial colonization, especially in the colon. Because a substantial amount of folic acid derives from intestinal bacteria, it seems reasonable that a change in the population of gastrointestinal bacteria could lead to a change in the plasma concentrations of folic acid. The deficiency could also be due to the fact that fructose malabsorption is known to accelerate gastrointestinal transit when patients are exposed to fructose, thus reducing the contact time that is necessary for the absorption of nutrients. Folic acid deficiency has been shown to increase the risk for development of neural tube defects in newborns. Folic acid deficiency may lead to diarrhea, depression, confusion and anemia.

    Symptoms of Folic Acid deficiency
The signs of folate deficiency are often very subtle.
    Symptoms include:
    Weight loss
    Loss of appetite
    Irritablility
    Behaviour disorders
    Headaches
    Weekness
    Depression
    Sore tongue
    Heart palpitations
Anemia can be a sign of advanced folate deficiency.
Pregnant woman with folate deficiency who become pregnant are more likely to give birth to low birth weight and premature babies and babies with neural tube defects.
In infants and children, folate deficiency can slow growth rate.

    Foods high in folic acid

    Liver and liver products
    Baker’s Yeast
    Leafy vegetables such as spinach

    Tryptophan Deficiency

Fructose as well as lactose malabsorption are associated with signs of mental depression, and behavior problems. Fructose malasorption and lactose cause improper absorption of tryptophan in the intestine and reduced levels of tryptophan in the blood. Tryptophan is one of the 20 standard amino acids, as well as an essential amino acid in the human diet.  It is necessary for the production of serotonin and melatonin. Fructose in the lower intestine will bond with any tryptophan present, making it impossible for the sufferer's body to absorb this essential amino acid. Tryptophan is utilised by the body to create both melotonin (to aid in sleep) and serotonin (to aid in positive mood). Low levels of these neurotransmitters are associated with depression, anxiety, anger, lack of focus, rage, behavior problems and inconsistant sleep patterns. Tryptophan can soothe nerves and anxiety, reduce carbohydrate cravings, relieve premenstrual symptoms, and enhance relaxation and sleep.
    Dietary sources

    Foods high in tryptophan

Tryptophan is present in most protein-based foods or dietary proteins.
    Poultry
    Oats
    Pumpkin seeds
    Spirulina
    Cottage cheese
    Red meat
    Eggs
    Fish
