Album Review: Gregg Braden's Music From The Divine Matrix

New York Times best-selling author Gregg Braden has put together a collection of his favorite heart opening, soul healing music.

Gregg Braden's Music from the Divine Matrix (Sounds True, January 01, 2011) is a compilation of some of the best new age artists in music today. I have been well aware of Hay House author Gregg Braden for quite some time now. As a student of metaphysics, Braden is referred to often by teachers, students, and colleagues. His deep understanding of heart intelligence is revealing and exciting, giving hope to a world that appears to be on the verge of self-destruction. Our ancestry holds the key to the secrets that only recently are being discovered once again.

Using the knowledge of our ancients, Gregg has put together a compilation of his favorite artists with the intention of healing the soul, opening the heart, and connecting the listener to the web that connects us all. Gregg calls this web the "divine matrix." The magic of the universal language of music is powerful and profound; an understanding modern science is now beginning to share with the beliefs of civilizations old.

Mini Lesson in Metaphysics

The CD comes with a booklet written by Braden about the role of music in our lives, secret knowledge of our ancient ancestors, and the often unrecognized intelligence of the heart. Gregg sums up very deep, penetrating subjects into a well-organized and clear 7-page booklet. Reading the booklet and listening to the CD together is healing and enriching: triggering an intense conversation with both the music and the literature simultaneously. The music speaks to the heart and the reading material to the mind, a unification of two forces that can go head to head if failure to recognize and understand the nature of these different forms of intelligence. Gregg's wisdom and understanding of the miraculous powers of healing, for both individually and globally, is electrifying. The lesson within the booklet in metaphysical sciences and the wisdom of the ancestors is sure to inspire and intrigue even the mind and heart of the skeptic.

Music That Touches The Emotions

Each song on this album touches the emotions in a different way, tuning you into your center, your heart. I was happy to see some of my favorite new age musicians a part of this compilation: Jonathan Goldman, Wah! and Robert Coxon. Most of the artists, however, were new to me and I enjoyed the introduction to such influential musicians of our new Aquarian Age.

It came as a pleasant surprise when I found out that Braden is a musician himself, and worked in collaboration on track seven entitled "Ballad of Buddha Blue" with Michael Kott and Martha Reich. Playing native flute and guitar, Greggs' talent cannot go unrecognized.

Although it is extremely difficult to choose a favorite song on the album, I have to go with my initial thoughts and feelings. Track two, "Om Namoh Bhagavate," by Rasa, captured me the moment the song began. Most of the time I listen to this album, I skip past track one, "Reaching Motherland," by Cybertribe, to get to track two. Although I do enjoy track one and most of the music by Cybertribe, I am not so sure that I would have chosen "Reaching Motherland" as such an important track as the first. Although a great song, it does not stir up much emotion, a preference that is perhaps, something very personal. "Om Namoh Bhagavate" would have made a much better entryway into the initiation of this "divine matrix" experience.

Perhaps Braden's choice of track one as the admission into the hypnotic, peaceful experience of this compilation album, is because this is one of the songs he opens with for his conferences to seat and welcome guests. Regardless, the album as a whole contains a rich assortment of different styles of new age music that all resonate at a frequency that produces forgiveness, gratitude, love, and joy.
