Review: Nature’s Patchwork Quilt, written by Mary Miche’

If you only make one children's book purchase this year, make it Nature’s Patchwork Quilt: Understanding Habitats.  Not only is this book educational, and beautifully designed by artist Consie Powell ... Nature’s Patchwork Quilt: Understanding Habitats also teaches the readers and those listening about the importance of protecting and taking care of our earth and different parts or patches of her ... celebrating and acknowledging the naturalists of the past who have loved and protected her, recognizing the heroism in their acts and encouraging children to do the same.

This book shows how similar the natural world is to a patchwork quilt, with many different habitats all pieced together, creating an amazing and wonderful planet that we all share ... "A patchwork quilt has many pieces that fit together to make a beautiful blanket ".

The images are wonderful, so many animals to be found within the pages and talked about with children.  Using a variety of colors and patterns that exist in a quilt, Nature’s Patchwork Quilt quickly shows the biodiversity that exists on our planet, Earth. Various habitats are used to explain everything from food chains to extinction, in a really clever and fun way.  It is engaging and interesting, a book that children and adults will enjoy reading again and again.  The back of the book includes some helpful hints from the author, giving even greater depth and educational value to this book.

Highly Recommended!!!
